How a general contractor is using Fieldwire to streamline inspections
Using a construction management app to track deficiencies can be a game changer for general contractors. In a recent webinar, Chez Gramaglia, Corporate Quality Manager for EllisDon, demonstrated how Fieldwire has been helping the company conduct inspections more efficiently.
All the inspection process at EllisDon goes through Fieldwire. When the field teams identify a deficiency, they will create a task, mark its location on the drawing, attach a photo, and assign the contractor responsible for it. The task is tagged under “Deficiencies” so it’s easier to get an overview of the status of the inspection. When the issue is resolved, the subcontractor can mark the task status as completed. Then, the EllisDon field teams will take a completion photo and mark the task as verified.
With this process, “all the stakeholders have live, up-to-date status on the work that's being done, and see the issues being corrected in real time”, says Gramaglia. By using the Tasks module, EllisDon’s teams can get an overview of the inspections and track progress easily. “We can see all the information that we need on one page and use it in the conversations with our contractors, clients and inspectors”, explains Gramaglia.
